Core Awareness:
Support your spine with
a strong back and abdomen
The principles of ancient yoga emphasize maintaining the strength,
flexibility and alignment of the spine as the foundation of good
health. The spine is the central axis of the body. Everything in the
body is in one way or another connected to the spine. When the spine
and its muscles are kept strong, supple and healthy, the entire body
has a stable foundation to rely on.
Mary regularly offers this two hour workshop in which participants will discover their personal
proper alignment and the curvatures of their own spine. A series of
asanas focused on developing and maintaining appropriate strength and
flexibility of the spine will be taught and practiced. Modifications
for individual needs will be made as required. Each participant will
leave with a greater awareness of their personal alignment and a
toolkit of asanas to develop and maintain proper strength and
flexibility of their back.
